ODHA Website > Professional Development > Online Course – Detecting and Responding to Gender-Based Violence for the Oral Health Professional

In Canada, more than 4 in 10 women have experienced intimate partner violence, and physical injuries often show up in the head, face, mouth, or neck. With this in mind, ODHA and WomanACT have partnered to develop a virtual course: Detecting and Responding to Gender-Based Violence for the Oral Health Professional

This self-guided course provides dental hygienists with the knowledge to identify behavioural and physical signs of gender-based violence and respond effectively. This learning opportunity is offered at a special rate of $29.00 for ODHA members. All proceeds from the purchase of this course are directed to the charitable organization, Woman Abuse Council of Toronto (WomanACT).

The course includes:

  • 3 – 5 hours of self-paced learning
  • 6 realistic case studies
  • 10 interactive and reflective activities
  • 10+ resources
