ODHA Life Membership Award

The ODHA Life Membership Award recognizes a dental hygienist who has made an outstanding contribution to both the profession of dental hygiene and to the Association and have demonstrated exceptional leadership as a professional. This individual must have been an ODHA member in good standing for at least thirty (30) years, and have served as a volunteer of the ODHA for a minimum of fifteen (15) years. The nomination must be supported by three (3) ODHA members who each submit a letter of endorsement.

ODHA Life Membership Award The Ontario Dental Hygienists’ Association (ODHA) recently presented Scarborough resident and registered dental hygienist Kim Ivan with the Life Membership Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the dental hygiene profession and exceptional leadership as a professional.

“It is a great honour to be recognized for my leadership and contributions to the dental hygiene profession and ODHA. It has been my absolute pleasure serving the Association and the profession for the past 37 years,” said Kim. “I know how vital our profession is to the health and well-being of our clients and how important ODHA is to our profession. We need a strong association and a strong voice to the provincial government, so I encourage everyone to consider volunteering for the ODHA.”

A long-time member of ODHA, Kim joined the ODHA Board of Directors in 2005 and was president in 2010-11, during which she served on several committees and task forces, including public awareness, woman abuse prevention, and interprofessional collaboration. Currently, she is the policy advisor for ODHA and chair of the research advisory board.

Adding to her list of achievements, Kim previously received ODHA’s Elizabeth Craig Award of Distinction, Award of Honour, Community Service Award, and Distinguished Service Award for her dedication, exemplary service, and outstanding contributions.
