This course will review the bacterial etiology of gingivitis and other factors such as systemic diseases, medications, and malnutrition. Clinical signs for both gingivitis and periodontitis will be discussed and a close look at the pathogenesis of periodontal disease will be presented.
Recent concepts about Periodontal Disease will be presented, along with research about the natural progression of the disease and the consequences of not receiving treatment.
A new technology will be shared that can help change the direction of gingivitis progression. We will learn about the chemistry and mode of action of ingredients in toothpastes to help lead your patients to greater gingival health.

Biography
Robert D’Ambrogio, BS. Robert holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University, and he is an authority in Oral Care Therapeutics. He leads product innovations of therapeutic toothpastes such as PerioGard Toothpaste, not just for North America, but for global markets. Bob has contributed to several publications and has numerous granted patents related to his work.
Dr. Thomas Nguyen, DMD. Dr. Thomas Nguyen is a professor at the McGill Faculty of Dentistry and was previously the Interim Director of Predoctoral Periodontology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Nguyen received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Montreal and his training in Periodontology at the University of Minnesota.
He is a past recipient of numerous awards, including the American Academy of Periodontology Award for Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics. Dr. Nguyen is both a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.”
