On November 22, 2017 the Ontario government passed Bill 148, which includes amendments to the Employment Standards Act (ESA), the Labour Relations Act (LRA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). The ESA now provides greater benefits and entitlements to employees. Some of the changes are effective in 2018 while others do not come into effect until 2019 or 2020.
This update, presented by Patrizia Piccolo, partner at Piccolo Heath LLP, will discuss changes to the ESA that may impact you at your workplace. Some of the changes highlighted include vacation and public holidays, leaves of absence and vulnerable workers.
